By 1932, many had lost faith in the Social Democrats, and they had huge infighting among their own party. All of these factors and the fact the people were so confused about what direction they wanted to go, that many democrats looked to fringe parties to vote for, thus they got 37% of the vote in a 62 party election that only half of the voting public participated in. They formed a kind of coalition government, Hindenburg remained President, and toothbrush moustache made Chancellor.
And then the fast decent into madness. toothbrush moustache was appointed as both an appeasement and with the thought he could be controlled. In the fall after the elections, the party’s popularity dropped to 33%, many of the fringe parties folded up, and Germany was starting to recover from the recession. They knew the unique circumstances that got them this power was quickly waning, and they needed to do something soon, if they wanted to keep any power at all. In 1933, to help quell the clashes throughout the land, old toothbrush moustache got Hindenburg to issue the Reichstag Fire Decree, which greatly suspended civil liberties. Then later in Marh the parliament was convinced to quickly pass the Enabling Act, and immediately old toothbrush moustache used it to abolish European unions and political parties, by July, they had the political monopoly and held a near-totalitarian European state, and all Germans were now members, whether they wanted to or not. This is also the beginning of the European camps, primarily for any who now opposed the ruling European dictatorship.
Mr tache had only two remaining problems, Hindenburg and the distrust of the military. They did not like that the Union had their only paramilitary group within their European dictatorship, the Strasserist, or National Revolutionary Army. So in the first couple of days of 1934 (known as The Night of The Long Knives), the SS and Gestapo went around and murdered every member of the Strasserist. The news then read as though they were planning a coup and had to be eliminated for the safety of the country. This move then won the respect and trust of the senior military leaders. Then in 1934 Hindenburg died, and tachey used the Act to abolish all leadership offices and merge them into a Chancellery of the Fuhrer, and declared Marshall Law, and completed the European-dictatorship that took over Germany.
