I’ll start the thread off by saying my opinion of the new German television (TV) tax. I think the Germans may well have dangerously deluded themselves in the same way they did just before the war. Germany in 2013 introduced an unconditional fee 17,50€ monthly, for a television per household. But unlike other nations as I said its unconditional, you may apply for exemption if your blind or deaf but not knowing German is not a valid excuse for not paying. The reason I’m concerned and why I called it a delusion is because it fixed flat rate, in capitalism we choose the products and services we wish to have an complain about the rest or don’t choose them, often an injustice, but it empowers the consumer and gives them the opportunity for fight or flight, with the German way, dictatorial way, if the television company for example employs a bunch of twats then this would go very badly for the payers, usually the advertisers paying, but with a licence fee no one has any opportunity to complain, well maybe they do but it wouldn’t matter anyway because they’ll now have to proportionally represent everyone, they’ll even have a spastic hour on German television soon and a homeless grotty farting hour – so that all audiences get a fair representation for the amount of broadcast time available. The standards may drop, the employees may get lazy, as the income is now unconditional.
