Ageing seems to be a natural occurence. Now, if you want to extent the life span from my perspective there are 2 options. As mentioned above “telomeres” seem to be a factor in ageing. Gene manipulation can extent human life. Secondly, we are scientifically close to developing small machines called nanites. Inserted in the human body nanites can be tasked with cell repair or destruction of cancer cells. So basically science and technology can extent life spans. I suspect whenever you read stories about ETs who are hunderds of years old they did the exact same thing.
